Squadron Supreme #1 - Zarda aka Power Princess 

I just finished reading the Squadron Supreme omnibus, which I started reading in March.  Even though it took 5 years to read, I enjoyed it to no end, and fell in love with the majority of the characters.  

So now I am going to subject you to me drawing a bunch of them. How long has it been since i drew and colored something?  It feels like months.

First up is Zarda. Incidentally, right before I started reading the omnibus. Cody and I are reading Exiles as our before bedtime story, and we had just gotten the World Tour stuff where Zarda joins the team.  Both this time through, and when I read that arc bac when it happened back in 2006, I remember being entirely unimpressed with this woman.  She just joins the team out of nowhere, and is like, “YOU DO AS I SAY I AM THE BEST.”

“You don’t even know Zarda.”  I thought to myself.  How could she possibly  understand the hardships these people went through, the loss they had suffered.  She had only been around ten minutes before Chris Claremont kicked her off the team.  I never even got to know her.

Then I read Squadron and the sequel Graphic Novel.  And I will be damned if Zarda didn’t have just as shitty a life.  Friends and lovers dying left and right, leaving her entire people behind to watch the Earth, this woman proved herself repeatedly, becoming a better leader than Hyperion.  She was very fierce, but beautiful, so I tried to beef her up more than I am used to when I draw the ladies.

She is the strongest woman on earth, so there needs to be some girth. 

Updated Resume.  I am trying to kick myself into high gear, because my self appointed deadline to start applying for new jobs is in 15 days.

This started out as a project for work, and quickly got away form me, and the concept.  But I think they are overtly cute, and am determined to use them for something

Sam Humphries said that he wanted to use Jubilee in Uncanny X-force but couldn’t because of what was happening in Brian Wood’s X-men, but I SAY NAY.  If Storm and Psylocke can share duties so can everyone’s favorite Chili Fry eating Mallrat Vampire Vamp.  So I designed her very own matchingish X-force costume.  I even incorporated her terrible looking, light bending necklace into a bedazzled jacket!

So I have come to the obvious conclusion that I should make animated portraits of all of the characters I like. So I started making updates to the Exile portraits I drew a few years ago and never scanned or did anything with.  

First up was Blink, and I was trying to keep it simple like the Lioness one I did two days ago, but then it just kept getting more and more complicated and I ended up with 82 frames…which means I had to save it super small to get it to upload, which means that for round two

I NEEDA REEL IT IN.

If someone could come over and periodically tell me to stop, that would be great.
