I have been having serious self debates about my comic collecting

I have been seriously collecting comics since 7th grade when I got my first issue of Exiles. And in the ten years that followed, that is how it has been. I love single issues. I like going and picking them off of the wall. I love feeling them in my hands as a read, and I like getting comics as frequently as I do. But as I have gotten a older, I have found that I much prefer to read comics in collected form. I love having shelves full of hardcovers and omnibuses. They are convenient and look nicer than my longboxes.

I find myself getting into issues, where I am rebuying comics after the fact. I will go get my monthlies, then a year down the line I will see Wolverine and the X-men vol 1 on sale and feel the need to buy it, because it is way nicer. This is ridiculous, as Cody has pointed out at every instance.

I know that a lot of people tradewait, but I have never seriously considered it as an option. It makes a lot more sense for me just to wait it out, download the books in the meantime or whatnot. It’s cheaper, it is my preferred method, but for some reason I am terrified to drop my books tomorrow.

Part of the overarching problem down the road is that fact that Marvel has now decided to only make bard covers for certain titles and not others. And being the fancy fuck I am, I don’t do tpb. I ruin them with haste. They aren’t great for hauling around in my bag, or keeping in the bathroom while I shower. So I would have to be careful with which books I go the trade route of. Avengers Arena is out, X-men Legacy is out, Hawkeye is I don’t know. It is coming out in hardcover now because it won awards. How do I know what format things are going to take ahead of time? I don’t want to miss issues only to find out I should have gotten them in the first place.

And this has been debated back and forth in my head for several weeks. I think I have come to a conclusion, but I guess we will see tomorrow.

What do you guys think? Do any of you trade wait? Let’s get a rory gilmore pros and cons list going.

Is there a better way to know whose towns are open for visiting? Whenever I see people are online,

I might be alone in this, but I really liked her X-Treme uniform, although Alison Blaire, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D sounds great too.

I know that most people think that Hawkeye currently has the best covers, and while they are wonderful, X-men Legacy has consistantly had the most beuaitful, smart, hilarious, heartfelt, stylish covers of the Marvel NOW era.
